We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Step 1: Review admission requirements

The academic requirements below have been established by the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and are the minimum required for entry into a graduate program. Some programs may have additional requirements which could include higher GPA requirements than those listed below. For program-specific requirements, please visit the individual program pages for more information.

International applicants can review the university's International Admissions Credentials for graduate admission equivalencies for international documentation. (Please note that grade equivalencies in this document are general guidelines only.)

Master's programs:

Hold a four-year honours degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution in the same area of graduate study or a closely related subject.
Overall academic standing of at least a B average (GPA: 3.0 on a 4.3 scale or 73 to 76 per cent), with a minimum B average in the last two full-time years (four semesters) of undergraduate work or equivalent.¹

Doctoral programs:

Completion of a research project or thesis-based master's level degree from a recognized institution in the same area of graduate study or a closely related subject.
A minimum B+ average (GPA: 3.3 on a 4.3 scale or 77 to 79 per cent).

Graduate diplomas:

Hold a four-year honours degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution in the area of graduate study or a closely related subject.
A minimum B-minus average (GPA: 2.7 on a 4.3 scale or 70 to 72 per cent).

¹The Master of Engineering (MEng) (Automotive Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering ) and Master of Engineering Management (MEngM) programs are extremely competitive; the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of seats available for each intake. The average GPA for applicants admitted generally exceeds our admission requirements.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are encouraged but not required for the Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Forensic Psychology. Additional details are available on the individual program pages.
